Something has come between us!

YEA! We have walls!  Well, wall!  Nathan sent me a text yesterday saying the wall would be up in 10 minutes...well, I wasn't able to see the wall jacks in action, BUT I did get over to the property to see a BIG 'OL WALL!

Jocie and I jumped up there and played opening and closing our pretend windows!  Good thing the neighbors already know we're nuts, because otherwise they would have been SURE of it last night!

"Hi"!

Our goal is to get the house roughed in before winter. As the light fades sooner in the day and the mornings are chilly, there has been a bit more anxiety over getting the walls up.  It's actually a pretty small percentage of the overall work, but the biggest impact (I think anyway!)

wall jacks in action...I'm told I'll have to be there in order to see how they work!

Just for fun, here's what the property looked like a couple months ago:
May(ish)

and yesterday, from about the same location...

August 16th

and just for cute, here is J helping Nathan snap chalk lines.  We think she's so stinkin' cute at just about everything! lol

I'm off to clean the kitchen sink we found (with help from a friend!)...it's got a ton of rust in the basin.  I'm hoping I can get it clean, if not, I'll have to get it resurfaced...Too Da Loo, Kangroo!

We have a floor!

First off, the hand is doing great!  Stitches came out.  Nathan has been deligent with keeping the wound clean and his gloves having the thumb & forefinger sewn together helped from keeping him from doing too much, too soon.  Rachel & Erik will be visiting us, so hopefully he'll get some free occupational therapy, too!

Lots has happened!  I went away for a few days and came back to an almost fully framed and sheathed main floor!  We are completing the french drain around the perimeter of the house.  We've had a gravel pile at the back of the property since we started, so we finally get to do some shoveling!  Chuck, aka 'Snoopervisor' loves to shovel, so he came over this weekend in work clothes and they made quite a dent in the pile.

In other fun happenings, we had to decide the color of the aluminum cladding on the windows to finalize the window order so Nathan knows the demensions he needs for the wall framing.  Terese and I drove by another house that has the color we are interested in.  We then went paint shopping to find some samples we liked...all this lead to a family coloring project!

With our own set of house elevations & a big box of colors we set out trying to find a house color combination that would work for everyone...Everyone had an idea...

We checked the next day to see if we all still agreed, and we did!

Let the window order be set in stone & the wall framing commence!
